History

Wang Components originated as a small, privately owned manufacturing business called Kawandah Pty Ltd in the early 1980’s, changing name to Wang Industries Pty Ltd in 1990. At that time the business produced ductile iron fittings for the water industry at its foundry in Tone road Wangaratta, Victoria.

The businesses experience in the water industry enabled it to identify the need for innovative products to assist with repair maintenance. In 1985 clamps were initially produced in 304 stainless steel, but it was clear that Australian conditions required a more robust material, so 316 stainless steel became the only material to use.

With the growth in stainless clamps, production was moved to a new manufacturing location in 1999 and the range of applications expanded to meet the needs of irrigation, water and gas industries.

In 2001 Wang Industries was purchased by Tyco Water Pty Ltd, part of the large multi-national company Tyco Pty Ltd. At this time the Wangaratta business became known as Wang Components. As part of a larger corporation Wang was able to invest in further product development as well as adopt the principles of Lean manufacturing.

In 2003 Wang released our range of stainless steel Vari-Gib couplings, cementing the businesses focus on the repair and maintenance of pipelines. From 2003 to 2012 Wang continued to expand through product development, adding products such as the Vari-Tap and speciality stainless clamps for more aggressive applications.

In 2012 Tyco Water, including the Wang Components business was sold to Pentair, and became known as Pentair Water Solutions Pty Ltd. Again this change to the business enabled Wang to refine its Lean manufacturing skills, enabling it to remain competitive through the down turn in the water industry.

In 2015 Crescent Capital Partners purchased Pentair Water Solutions, and separated Wang Components out as a stand-alone business focused on providing the best solutions to pipeline repair and maintenance in Australia, New Zealand and other international markets.

In 2016 AVK Australia acquired the shares of Wang Holdco Pty Ltd, and its subsidiary Wang Components Pty Ltd (including the business of Complete Tapping Services (CTS)) and is now part of the AVK Australia Group, headquarted by AVK Australia Holding Pty Ltd in South Australia, comprising of 5 operating companies; AVK Valves Pty Ltd, AVK Flow Control Pty Ltd, AVK Wang Pty Ltd, AVK Currumbin Pty Ltd and Complete Tapping Service.
